Rick Raeburn - "Diver profiling – the way forward?"

Rick Raeburn is RNLI's Community Safety Resources and Development Manager, a PADI and Scotsac trained diver and has also been chairman of the British Diving Safety Group for the last ten years. He will be giving a talk about the results of the Diving Safety Research that the RNLI has been carrying out over the past year and how we are going to follow that up next year.

Working with the support of the British Diving Safe...ty Group, the RNLI commissioned a major research project involving almost 4,000 UK divers, with the aim of identifying what motivates divers to dive in UK waters and what is their attitude to risk.

One of the outcomes of this research was to segment the diving population into five groups, ranked in order of risk. Based on this profiling, the RNLI and the British Diving Safety Group are about to commence two major safety campaigns specifically designed to appeal to each of the two highest risk groups identified in the profiling research.

Which group are you in? Do you think that either of the new programmes are likely to appeal to you or to those you dive with?

This is your chance to get a preview of the new campaigns while there is still an opportunity to influence the final content.
